About the email test
The email test examines whether your email domain is protected against misuse and reading. We check whether the mail server is accessible via IPv6, whether the domain is DNSSEC signed, whether the antiphishing mechanisms DMARC, DKIM and SPF are set up correctly, and whether email is sent encrypted with STARTTLS and DANE.
Enter an email address or a domain and we will test the settings on the corresponding mail server.
What is tested?
- Modern Internet Address (IPv6) — whether name servers and mail server can be reached via IPv6.
- Signed domain (DNSSEC) — whether the email domain is protected with a valid signature.
- Email Authentication — DMARC, DKIM and SPF that prevent sender spoofing.
- Secure mail transport — STARTTLS, DANE and valid server certificate.
- Route authorization (RPKI) — whether routing to the mail server is cryptographically validated.
